Agricultural crop application

Naked Biochar enhances soil structure by reducing bulk density, increasing
porosity, increasing ion exchange capacity and sweetening the soil. The increased water holding capacity gained by using Naked Biochar increases nutrient retention (reducing fertiliser application requirements) and boosts drought tolerance i.e. Naked Biochar holds 4 times its volume in water which provides vastly improved water retention properties, reducing water irrigation volumes and cost.

Our general recommendation for crops is an annual application of 1 t/Ha, which may vary depending on your climate, your soil, your crop and your approach to soil management. To improve Naked Biochar application mixing with a manure and or urea slurry is recommended – ideal for dairy pasture applications i.e. mixing effluent from milking sheds with Naked Biochar and spreading onto pasture.

Combining Naked Biochar with low till or no till management practices, combined with green mulch crops during fallow periods will increase your soil carbon in a cost effective manner.

Pasture grasses and crops in poor soil quality areas respond well to biochar application. To achieve affective results it is recommended an analysis of the soil, including water retention capacity, the type of pasture and or crops being sown is performed (contact [email protected] for further assistance).
