What is Biochar

Biochar is made from any form of waste biomass using a PYROLYSIS process of heating the biomass from the top down and limiting the oxygen. This produces a fine grained, highly porous pure char ‘Biochar’ that is the remains of a plants cellular structure. Biochar is ‘Simple Genius’ in that it creates something of long term environmental and business value from otherwise nuisance waste.

Charman Biochar is made using a ‘Continuous Pyrolysis’ process that runs 24/7 days a week ensuring >85% fixed carbon quality is produced as opposed to batch biochar production processes that have inferior fixed carbon content. The heat from the pyrolysis process is utilised to generate steam for an organic beer malt production facility – a ‘CIRCULAR ECONOMY’ in returning carbon to soil and regenerative energy from a nuisance waste.
